Mrs. Sarah Shearon-Smith has been the band director at Okeeheelee Middle School for the last 21 years.  Before Okeeheelee, she taught music at Christa McAuliffe Middle, The School of the Arts, Holy Name of Jesus and was a clinician at Howell Watkins Middle and William T. Dwyer High School.

Starting in fourth grade as a music student of Randy Sonntag, she continued her music education through Jupiter Middle School and Cardinal Newman High School.  Sarah received her Bachelors in Music Education and Bachelors of Music Performance on Euphonium from Western Michigan University, and earned her Master of Arts in Music degree from Florida Atlantic University.  Sarah is currently serving as an adjunct faculty at Palm Beach State University, teaching Euphonium and Tuba.

Mrs. Shearon-Smith not only teaches music, but also performs currently with the Orchid City Brass and has, in the past, performed with the Palm Beach Brass, Florida Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches as well as soloing with the Palm Beach Gardens Concert Band.  

Sarah is a member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Music Educators Association, International Tuba and Euphonium Association, and National Band Directors Association.   In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, hunting and scuba diving all with her husband, Brian and daughter, Allison.
